Why Attend NY Flow Festival
- Thoughtful Competition
- Expert Feedback
- Leveled Learning
- NYC Experience
New York Flow Festival is designed for West Coast Swing competitors, and we’re putting thoughtful touches on the weekend experience:
- A Dedicated Community: Every full-weekend attendee from Novice to Champion competes in a skill-based WSDC Jack & Jill contest, creating an immersive environment for dancers.
- Balanced Divisions: Jack & Jill contests have cap targets for leader and follower roles to ensure balanced and manageable competitions with smaller heats.
- Expert Judges: All J&J contest judges will have significant WSDC judging experience.
- More Floor Time: Enjoy smaller heat sizes with four songs, giving you more time to showcase your dancing.
- A Level Playing Field: We’ll ensure fairness through consistent music genres and BPMs among division heats, and fully-randomized partnering before the first dance.
- Mental Health & Anxiety Workshop: Benefit from a unique workshop on managing competitor anxiety and improving your mental game.
We’d like all competitors to go home feeling like they have next steps to improve their competition dancing.
- Direct Q&A Sessions: For Novice to All-Star competitors, attend a dedicated Q&A session with your division’s judges to ask questions and get direct insights on what they value.
- Personalized Comments: All finalists will receive personalized comments from our dedicated note-taking judge that provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Finals Videos: We’ll share high-quality, social media-ready videos of your finals dances.
Your full weekend pass includes a curated educational path to help you grow alongside your division peers, taught by top-tier professional instructors.
- Leveled Intensives: Participate in a 2-hour intensive with a Champion instructor, exclusively for dancers in your skill level.
- Focused Workshops: Receive targeted instruction in two 50-minute leveled workshops.
Our Midtown Manhattan location places you in the heart of one of the world’s greatest cities. Outside of the ballroom, you’ll have direct access to incredible restaurants, bars, and iconic cultural attractions.

Key Details
Passes & Competing
Novice through Champion attendees on a Full Weekend Pass must compete in a skill-based WSDC Jack & Jill; every Full Weekend Pass includes your entry. A Sunday Pass admits any dancer to Sunday and its contests only. Aside from that, we do not sell day, spectator, or social-only passes.
Novice Eligibility
We strongly recommend Novice competitors have at least 1 Newcomer point or prior West Coast Swing competition experience. Brand new to competing? Start with the Sunday Pass and the Newcomer Jack & Jill, or gain experience at other regional WSDC events first.
One Jack & Jill Entry, Plus an Optional Opposite-Role Entry
Your pass includes one skill-based Jack & Jill entry in one division and role. You may add a second J&J in your opposite role for $25, in person during the event weekend, if that division’s published target capacity is not met. You are also welcome to enter a different role in Strictly or the New York Rat Race.
18 and Older
All attendees must be 18 or older.
Multiple Venues
Our partner hotel and dance venues are a few minutes’ walk from each other in Midtown NYC. Be prepared for outdoor walking. See Hotel & Travel for travel tips.
Division Target Sizes
To keep contests balanced and manageable, we set a per-role target for each WSDC Jack & Jill division. These are targets, not strict caps.
- Novice: 42 per role (WSDC Tier 4)
- Intermediate: 42 per role (WSDC Tier 4)
- Advanced: 30 per role (WSDC Tier 3)
- All-Star: 22 per role (WSDC Tier 3)
- Champion: 12 per role (WSDC Tier 2)
- Newcomer: 25 per role (WSDC Tier 3)

FAQ
Do I need a partner?
No. Jack & Jill partners are drawn at random, and Full Weekend Passes include your entry. Strictly and Pro-Am Spotlight are optional add-ons you enter with a partner of your choice.
Can I compete without a full pass?
Yes, on Sunday. A Sunday Pass lets you enter the WSDC Newcomer Jack & Jill, the New York Rat Race, Sophisticated Jack & Jill, Novice or Intermediate Strictly, and the Pro-Am Spotlight. The skill-based WSDC Jack & Jill divisions require a Full Weekend Pass.
What if I can only attend one day?
The Sunday Pass ($75) opens Sunday to anyone: Newcomers, social dancers, and dancers who can only make Sunday. Beyond that we do not sell day, spectator, or social-only passes: NYFF is a full-weekend competitor event, and full-weekend passholders are welcome to come for whichever parts they can make.
When do prices increase?
Tier 1 ($249 for Novice through Advanced) ends when the first 60 passes sell. Tier 2 ($279) runs through January 31, 2027. Tier 3 ($289) applies after that until we sell out. All-Star ($175, first 15 passes $145), Champion ($75), Sunday Pass ($75), and International ($189) prices remain a flat rate.
