How do I register for the event?
Through the Register page. Registration opens September 2026, and every Full Weekend Pass includes your WSDC Jack & Jill entry. Prices and inclusions live on Passes & Pricing.
Can I buy a pass at the door?
Don’t count on it. The weekend is capped at 300 full-weekend passes and may sell out in advance. Registering early also locks in the lowest tier price for your division.
When do prices increase?
Tier 1 ($249 for Novice through Advanced) ends when the first 60 passes sell. Tier 2 ($279) runs through January 31, 2027. Tier 3 ($289) applies after that until we sell out. All-Star ($175, first 15 passes $145), Champion ($75), Sunday Pass ($75), International ($189), and Alumni ($249 through October 31, 2026) prices stay a flat rate. See Passes & Pricing.
What is your refund policy?
Passes canceled before February 1, 2027 are refunded, minus processing fees. From February 1 onward, your pass transfers to next year instead. You may also transfer your pass to another dancer of the same role in your WSDC division. Contest add-on fees are not refundable except when NYFF cancels a contest. Do you offer student or military discounts?
Not for 2027. We do offer a flat $189 International rate (non-US residents, verified during checkout) and a $249 Alumni rate for NYFF 2026 attendees through October 31, 2026. See Access Pricing on Passes & Pricing.
What if I can only attend one day?
We don’t sell day or spectator passes, with one exception: the $75 Sunday Pass, open to anyone: Newcomers, social dancers, and dancers who can only make Sunday. It covers Sunday workshops, the Newcomer program, the performance demos, and the closing social, and you can add the Newcomer Jack & Jill for $25.
Hotel & Travel
How do I book a hotel room with the festival rate?
Book the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan through the booking link on Hotel & Travel. The NYFF rate is $189 per night with the $29 nightly amenity fee waived, and Wi-Fi is complimentary.
Is there a room block cutoff date?
Yes. The room block closes January 28, 2027. Book before then to get the group rate.
How far is the hotel from the venues?
A few minutes on foot. Danznik Studios is one block north of the hotel, Ripley-Grier Studios is around the corner on 8th Avenue, and Penn Station is a few blocks away. Dress for outdoor walking; late February in NYC is usually between 1°C and 6°C (34°F to 43°F).
How do I find a roommate to share hotel costs?
Join the official Rides, Roomies & Strictlies Facebook group, where dancers match up on rooms, rides, and Strictly partners.
Competitions
How do I register for competitions?
Your Full Weekend Pass includes one skill-based WSDC Jack & Jill entry. You pick your division and role when you register. Add-ons (Strictly, Pro-Am Spotlights, the Sophisticated Jack & Jill, and the New York Rat Race) can be added when you register or at the event, and entries close 1 hour before each contest starts. Do I need a full pass to compete?
Novice through Champion dancers compete in their Jack & Jill on a Full Weekend Pass. With a Sunday Pass you can enter the Sunday contests: the Newcomer Jack & Jill, Sophisticated Jack & Jill, Novice or Intermediate Strictly, Pro-Am Spotlights, and the New York Rat Race.
What division should I compete in?
Your WSDC points decide. Look them up on the WSDC Points Registry and check Chart 3 of the WSDC Registry Event Rules (Chart 4 for your opposite role). No points in either role? We encourage the Newcomer Jack & Jill. Still unsure? Contact us, and we can help you choose.
Do I need a partner to compete?
No. Jack & Jill and Rat Race partners are drawn at random. Only Strictly and Pro-Am Spotlights require a partner of your choice.
Can I enter more than one contest?
Yes. Beyond your included Jack & Jill, you can add the Sophisticated Jack & Jill, Strictly contests, Pro-Am Spotlights, the New York Rat Race, and a second Jack & Jill in your opposite role (added on-site if your division’s target capacity is not met).
Can I change divisions later?
Your Jack & Jill division follows your WSDC points, so it changes only by qualifying for a new division or by petition: up through the WSDC Chief Judges Committee by February 11, 2027, or down one division with the Chief Judge’s approval at least 24 hours before the event. If your level changes after you register, we adjust your pass to match.
What happens if my division fills up?
Division sizes are targets, not strict caps: 42 per role in Novice and Intermediate, 30 in Advanced, 22 in All-Star, and 12 in Champion. Second opposite-role entries are first come, first served and stop once a division reaches its target. Pass availability is separate. See Passes & Pricing for live availability.
When do contest entries close?
1 hour before each contest’s scheduled start time. You can add a second opposite-role Jack & Jill entry in person during the weekend while capacity lasts.
What should I wear for competitions?
Whatever you can dance well in. There is no formal dress code, but judges may flag clothing that is unsafe or disrespectful, and Strictly couples may coordinate outfits but not wear matching costumes. When in doubt, ask the Chief Judge. See the Event Rules.
Schedule & Classes
When will the full schedule be available?
The 2027 schedule is not posted yet; contest times and workshop blocks will be published on the Schedule page as they are confirmed. For a feel of how the weekend flows, browse the 2026 schedule.
Do I need to pre-register for specific workshops?
No. Your Full Weekend Pass covers your division’s 2-hour intensive with a Champion instructor and two leveled workshops. Just show up to the sessions for your level.
What levels of workshops are offered?
Workshops and intensives run by WSDC division from Novice through Champion, plus all-levels workshops on Sunday and a dedicated Newcomer program. There is also an all-levels performance anxiety workshop with Dr. Sam Greenblatt.
What are the social dance hours?
Every night. Expect late-night socials into the small hours on Friday and Saturday (typically 3 to 4AM) and a closing social on Sunday evening. Find exact hours on the Schedule page.
General
What is New York Flow Festival?
An annual WSDC Registry West Coast Swing event in Midtown Manhattan: a weekend of leveled workshops, WSDC competition, and parties, capped at 300 full-weekend passes. NYFF 2027 runs Friday, February 26 to Sunday, February 28, 2027.
Can I earn WSDC points at NYFF?
Yes. NYFF is a WSDC Registry Event. Every Jack & Jill from Newcomer through Champion awards WSDC points, and the age-based Sophisticated Jack & Jill awards WSDC Sophisticated points.
Who is organizing NYFF?
NYFF is hosted by NYC Swings and led by event directors Orian and Bekah Breaux, organizers of the Flow Fridays social that has introduced thousands of New Yorkers to West Coast Swing.
What should I wear to the event?
Dress comfortably. There is no dress code for workshops or socials. Shoes are required for competing and social dancing, and layers help as you’ll be walking outdoors between venues in February cold.
Is there a water station available?
Yes, water is available at the venues, and we’ll offer late-night refreshments to keep the party going.
Will there be vendors at the event?
No. NYFF merch is available on the Merch page.
Will the event be filmed or photographed?
Yes. Professional photographers and videographers cover the weekend, and attending grants NYFF use of your name and likeness in event photos and video. Finals videos and photos are shared free afterward. See the Media Archive for 2026.
